The 31st October saw me at both Crawley Registry Office and the fantastic Oak Barn Bar & Restaurant in Burgess Hill where I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Emily and Ben's wedding.
Emily and Ben held such a gorgeous ceremony in the modern and spacious registry office, with readings from family in front of a packed out congregation followed by Emily and Ben (and little Matilda) making a fantastic exit with beaming smiles of joy. These are the kind of moments I adore capturing as a reportage photographer. Exiting to meet their guests they were able to make use of the stunning balcony area in unusually warm autumnal weather (over 20 degrees and bright sunshine!) to receive congratulations and take some of their group shots.
I love photographing weddings in autumn, especially sunny days like this one! The light is just brilliant, creating soft warm tones without the harshness that the summer sun can often create and providing the ideal conditions for beautiful silhouettes. I know it goes against the rules of photography, but I love shooting directly into the sun!
I cannot rate Oak Barns any higher, whilst still being somewhat new in the world of Weddings, the Barn offers a beautiful setting for any wedding or reception. It is set in glorious scenery next to a golf course with the old historic barn having been lovingly renovated using old oak beams from great ships, and boasting details such as oak floors, Sussex sandstone and authentic wagon wheel chandeliers.
The staff and management couldn't have been any more hospitable too, to both myself and the Wedding party. Thank you so much, a venue I would most definitely like to photograph at again.
The venue was decked out wonderfully, with nods to the fact it was taking place on Halloween (such as carved pumpkins on some of the tables, and the 'Monster Mash' playing during the dancing) but not going too far. Bunting and bunches of flowers were the order of the day and looked great!
Emily, Ben, little Matilda and all the guests seemed to be having a great time as the evening drew on, and I had a fantastic time photographing it. My congratulations to you both!
