Too many highlights to mention on this one, all I can say is; what a wedding!
Alex & Neil got married last month at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, and I'm pleased to say that I was able to spend the day with them photographing their special day. This wedding was fairly large, with a fair number of guests from both sides, all of which were lovely friendly people who were more than happy to have their photo taken (a massive bonus for me!).
Denbies (website), their venue, is an enormous vineyard and events venue just outside of Dorking. It features acres of lush hills where the vines themselves grow, as well as extensive wine making facilities and barrel stores (of which they also offer tours with wine tasting). The restaurant and function rooms were where Alex and Neil's ceremony and reception took place, with the Garden Room (and adjoining courtyard, which also had a high vantage point for the whole-group photo) witnessing their actual marriage and dancing, and enormous glass-roofed restaurant hosting their dinner.
The ceremony was very pretty indeed, with the Garden Room's huge mural forming an ideal background for candid shots and some of the group photos. Alex & Neil's young daughter played a prominent part during the day's proceedings, insisting on being present at the front throughout the ceremony, which the registrars were more than happy to accommodate, and also giving an impromptu speech on the microphone during the wedding breakfast, which was incredibly cute :).
As darkness closed in during the evening, wedding band Teenage Kicks (website) took to the stage and kept everyone up on their feet dancing well into the night. Due to Alex's Greek heritage, I also got to witness my first money dance - where family and guests pin banknotes to the happy couple! Amazing!
This wedding was a great reminder to me as to why I love shooting weddings. So much happiness and good feeling throughout, and I couldn't be happier for Alex & Neil, who make a perfect couple.
