Lyn & Steve's Wedding Day

Luton is a town that I have become fairly familiar with due to the amount of work I have done there, despite it being quite a distance from where I am based (near Gatwick Airport). So last month, I was pleased to once again be returning to the place to photograph another wedding.

Lyn & Steve decided to hire me for a full day of shooting, which began in the morning at their home where they broke with tradition and got ready and opened gifts together, with some of their guests in attendance. Of course, Steve still couldn't see Lyn with her dress on (that's bad luck after all), so he had to depart for the ceremony at Luton Registry Office early.

As he left, the wedding car arrived to take Lyn to the ceremony. The car itself was quite unique, a classic convertible with a bubble machine in the back! I followed it to the ceremony and reception, and the (quite extensive) bubbles blowing out the back as it drove down the road certainly caught a load of attention from passers-by! We made sure we got loads of photos during the couple's shoot at Wardown Park with it, as well as inside on the grand staircase in the Luton Museum after they got out.

Both the ceremony and reception were intimate affairs with close family and friends totalling about 15 guests. I think this suits a January wedding nicely as it helps create a cosy warm atmosphere, and I was made to feel like something of a guest myself which was lovely. Steve and Lyn also had some photos taken in their hotel suite at the Leaside Hotel, which boasted three rooms and hot tub right in the middle, very nice!

This was a very lovely occasion, and I look forward to returning to Luton soon for my next booking there! Below are some of my favourite shots from the day.
