Your wedding day is one of the most significant days of your life and it's very important you choose your photographer wisely to ensure that the images you receive reflect on both of your personalities, and accurately capture all the best bits of the day in a way you'll be happy to look back at for years to come.
I've asked myself several questions which detail what I do to make your wedding photography personal to you. If you don't see something you would like to ask below, please do contact me here.
What's your shooting style?
I shoot in a contemporary style, mixing a mostly reportage style with some semi-staged elements at times. I aim to truly capture the atmosphere of your big day, from the biggest moments down to the smaller details and I feel this provides you with an accurate record of how it actually felt to be at your wedding, enabling you to actively recall forgotten memories of the day every time you look over your wedding photos in years to come. Formality is generally kept to the group photos and a few couple's shots - but I promise I won't boss anyone about and try to keep the atmosphere during any posed shots relaxed and fun!
The rest of the time, I find it very important to keep a low profile and capture the events of the day without intruding, so that it keeps flowing smoothly. This, I often find, is a way to capture people at their best as their guard is down when they don't realise they are being photographed and produces really natural results. I aim to use natural light wherever possible, but always take stock of what's available to ensure that each image is properly lit.
How do you edit your images?
Every finished image I provide to you is retouched using the latest version of Adobe Photoshop. Generally, I try to keep editing to the basics (cropping, levels, contrast, etc.), but I always keep an eye out for anything that will really make an image pop, and sometimes introduce vignetting, light filtering, etc. if I really feel an image will benefit from it. Also, as a matter of course, I always remove unsightly elements from your finished pictures (ugly fire exit signs, Air-Con vents, plug sockets, intrusive mic stands, etc.) so there aren't any distractions when you look through your images.
During your consultation, I will always ask what your preferred image editing style is, and if you're unsure, I am happy to run through some examples of different styles with you to ensure you are left with something you're happy with. This bit can be quite subjective so I'm always keen to hone in on what you really want.
Why do you photograph weddings?
Quite simply - I love being a part of such a happy experience for people, and I'm so pleased to be doing it full time! As I've said, it's such an important day in two people's lives (and their family's too!) and I consider it an honour to be entrusted with documenting their day and enabling them to relive the memories of it over and over again with images they can cherish for a lifetime. In no small part, I aim to have taken the famous photograph that takes pride of place on their mantelpiece long into old-age and beyond! Also; no wedding is ever the same, and it's so interesting to see what you all come up with, and to meet the all the lovely people involved!
What do you provide?
Currently, I provide a package of prints, high-res CD and web gallery to all of my clients. As you might expect, exact quantities vary depending on the amount of coverage requested but further details can be found on my pricing page at link. My packages are all inclusive, with the prices quoted being final with no up-selling or anything like that, so you won't need to worry about unexpected costs! I provide coverage of whatever you want coverage of, from the preparations through to the end of reception (and I set no limit on how late you want me to stay).
Also, I am happy to meet any enquiring couple before they book or at any time before the big day to run over the planned shots and styles, at any location they choose (including at a venue itself). This is, of course, free of charge. I'm also available at any point by email or phone to answer any questions you may have.
I do also provide the option for reprints or extra CDs to be ordered from me after the wedding by friends and family if they wish. However, I also grant each couple license to use, copy or distribute their copies of the images however they want - so if it's more convenient to go through yourselves - that's no problem.
What equipment do you use?
I shoot on a pair of Canon EOS DSLRs (a 5D mkiii and mki), which are with me at all times! Generally these are armed with a f/1.4 50mm prime lens on one and a telephoto zoom on the other so I'm always ready to shoot a variety of shots at a moment's notice! I also bring a variety of other lenses in my bag, as well as a spare camera body, spare flash guns, spare batteries/cards, etc. should the worst happen!
Again, if you have a question that you don't see above, please do contact me.
